What Is Nordic Walking?

Nordic walking is an exercise based activity using special poles to propel you along. You go further and faster than usual walking, but with less effort!

You will use your upper and lower body simultaneously, which means you will be using more muscles, and therefore burning more calories (20-46% to be precise).
Poles are adjustable and specific to your height, limb length and stride. Two poles are used to replicate the natural arm swing in walking.

For beginners, we offer comprehensive tuition at a level to suit you. Following this, we offer regular group walks in Norwich and the surrounding areas.

We aim to cover a variety of walks in Norwich and Norfolk, with different walks each week.

All routes are conducted in the local villages, parks and countryside to appreciate and enjoy the pleasant scenery we have around us!

Some of the areas we cover include:
Ringland, Marriots Way, Eaton Park and UEA, High Ash Farm (Caistor St. Edmund), Marston Lane marshes, Mulbarton, Wreningham,  Trowse.  And many many more!

Lisa

Lisa is the founder of Norwich Nordic Walkers and since training as an instructor in 2010; she has built up a wealth of knowledge, experience and routes.

Annie

Annie trained as an instructor in 2013, after walking with her mum and seeing the benefits. Her interest in the sport led her to study her dissertation on Nordic walking at University whilst studying BSc Clinical Exercise Science. Annie is currently doing a masters degree in Physiotherapy at UEA and teaches Nordic walking in her spare time.

We pride ourselves on being friendly yet professional instructors, aiming to ensure everyone gets the best out of it for themselves.

We also arrange longer 6 mile walks and monthly coffee walks.

Workout walks are arranged regularly along with an annual charity walk.

How To Get Started

We offer an introductory package to Nordic walking which includes:

  • 2 x 1 hour introductory sessions, arranged at a time and location to suit you.

  • A 1 hour group walk with an established group to experience the social aspect of Nordic walking!

  • Poles supplied in each session.

Annie and Lisa are delightful people and the success of this long running group is down to them and their skills at welcoming and walking with each member. They are knowledgable, skilled communicators, always encouraging, safety conscious, clear in their instructions, and wanting the best outcomes for everyone. They love what they do , it shines out.
